McClintock
is an entrepreneur, baker, photographer, tour host, reviewer, and multi-genre
author. She was born on the west coast, but after less than eight years she

Over
the years McClintock traveled the country and visited magnificent Scotland. She

"I've
always loved books and spent more hours reading through school than any other
activity. I wrote stories when I was younger and even tried my hand at a novel.
It wasn't very good and I shelved the idea for years." She pulled the
ideas off the shelf and began working on her first novel, Gallagher's Pride,
the first in an historical series about a ranching family in Montana.

of Alaina Claiborne, the first of her British Agent novels. She is currently at
work on her next book.’

Excerpt:
There was nothing
left of the life she had known.
Her
slender arm wrapped around the little boy’s shoulder and pulled him closer to
his side. She could feel his slight trembling and wished more than anything
that she could take his sadness. They were alone in the world. They
had each other and she prayed that would be enough for them both.
They
stood and listened as the priest gave the final blessing and the caskets were
lowered into the ground. It wasn’t something anyone should witness, but she
needed the closure. She needed to know that it was over. ‘A very sad affair’
everyone called it for it wasn’t every day that a man murdered his wife and
then shot himself. It wasn’t healthy to think on the possible reasons why, but
she couldn’t seem to help herself. She had truly believed that they had been a
happy family. One of the wealthiest in New Orleans and one of the most
respected and sought out for social gatherings. The truth however, was revealed
with her father’s death. No one would speak of it to them of course, but the
lawyer had made it quite clear.
They
were penniless.
Book Review:
This book combines the best of the
romance genre, mystery, and family drama.
Isabelle
loses her parents, her home, and her family fortune all in one tragic
murder/suicide and is left with only her 5 year old brother. She accepts a job as a schoolteacher about as
far from the city life in New Orleans as you can get, on the frontier in
Montana. There she meets the second
Gallagher, who is immediately drawn to her.
However, Isabelle plans to never marry, until she is forced to do so in
order to keep custody of her brother.
Can a marriage of convenience grow
into a true and lasting love? Will the
return of an enemy to the Gallagher family destroy the little chance they
have? Why is Hunter really back? If you read book one in the Gallagher series
you know that some of these issues are on-going from book 1. However, book 2 can be read as a stand-alone
as the continuing issues are explained enough for the book to make sense and
still be a good read.
I give this book 4 out of 5 clouds.
