Blurb :
On a stormy November evening, Jack Barrett had plans to treat his best friend Travis to a night of fine dining and jazz. As they neared their destination, a truck ran a red light, plowing through Jack's car, and changing his life forever. Jack found a new outlook on life, and took on adventures that made him one of the world's most admired people. With each step, Jack grew as a person and a leader; piecing together a family from different corners of the world, while risking himself and his family to save others. Jack's impact on the world was like no other, but in the end, when the lights and the cameras were gone, Jack was about to die, or was he? Prepare yourself for a surprising ending that questions the very nature between life and death, reality and dream.

Author Interview:
I appreciate your taking the time to visit with us today.

1.      What character was your favorite to write for in this story? Why?
Although most people would think my favorite character would be Jack, since the story is about him, in truth it was Ana.  I loved watching how Ana developed after having everything she had known taken from her.  She inspires me when I think of what each of us can do if we’re just given an opportunity.

2.      Which was your favorite scene to write?
This is a tough question.  It’s close between Italy and Oaxaca, Mexico.  Italy was fun, because I experienced just about everything Jack went through.  However, I did some of my best writing in Mexico.  The story just seemed to come alive, as new twists and turns presented themselves from walking the streets of Oaxaca.

3.      What was the hardest thing about writing this story?
I loved writing One Moment in Time, but the first draft took me two and half years to complete.  I was working full-time and teaching part-time, so writing was like a third career for me.  I was very passionate and dedicated to completing the novel, but the hardest part was finding the time to write, and when I did find the time, to get back into the flow.

4.      What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
My writing style is simple, which I do on purpose.  My quirk is not to get caught up with flowery language or to try to impress the reader with my vocabulary.  I want a story that reads quickly, where the reader can see the story for him or herself.  Although some have said the writing is too simple, I’ve had many people tell me they loved the speed at which they read the book.

5.      Where do you find your Inspirations?
I find inspirations everywhere.  There’s a lot of me in my writing.  I try to travel to the location of the story, live the life of the characters, so that I can add realism to what they are going through.  Usually, when I take these trips, new ideas and storylines come to me from the people, culture, and surroundings.
