Meet Hailey - possessed by an otherworldly being who was trapped in her Kindle.

Hailey Parrish was quick-witted, irreverent, and hadn’t had a date in three years. She only wanted an eBook reader because her collection of paperbacks threatened to take over her small living space. Little did she know that the "special offers" that prompted the purchase included much more than a reduced price in exchange for a few ads. The device came pre-loaded with the essence of Sebastian Kess, an erudite womanizer with magical abilities from a parallel dimension. When she inadvertently releases him and he inhabits her body, she finally has a man inside her, just not in the way she imagined. And soon her predicament introduces her to yet another supernatural, the handsome could-be-the-man-of-her-dreams Alex Sunderland. Can Alex and Hailey find a way to return Sebastian to his own body, stay one step ahead of the criminals who want to keep him where he is, and not lose their sense of humor?
Special Offers, the first book of the Coursodon Dimension Series, combines paranormal romance, urban fantasy, a bit of science fiction and a healthy dose of quirky humor.

Excerpt:

As I lay in the darkness, it occurred to me that I must be the most boring single 30 year-old ever. I didn’t go out much, I ate crappy food. I couldn’t even remember the score of the games I just watched.
This was not how I had imagined myself at this point in my life. Had my marriage not crashed and burned, we probably would have a baby by now. Yeah, and I would still be married to an asstard. He probably would have spawned asstardlets. I just wanted to feel like my life was going somewhere, like I was accomplishing something. Rolling over on my side, I vowed to try to get myself together and move forward.
When I finally fell asleep, I dreamt I went on my first post-divorce date. The guy took me to a fancy restaurant, ordered lots of food and expensive wine and then ditched me for the voluptuous hostess. I was presented with the check but lacked any means of paying it. After negotiating a payment plan with the restaurant owner, which involved allowing him to indulge his foot fetish with my pinkie toes and some flavored whipped cream, I left the place and got into my car, which was really weird, because my date drove.
There in the parking lot were dine-and-dash and the hostess, groping each other with utter abandon. I revved up the engine, threw the car into drive and peeled out towards them. The headlights illuminated their stunned faces as I spun the car sharply, rolled down the window and chucked a lit Molotov cocktail - made from the empty wine bottle from dinner - at them and sped off humming the theme to “The Lion King.”
I woke up thinking I must be making progress. Usually in my dreams I ran them over after I set them on fire.

Review:

The first part of this book was touch and go for me.  I wasn’t sure I was going to like it.  The heroine just accepted all the weirdness that happened to her way to easily and, except for her acidic wit, which I enjoyed, she was kind of boring.  But the more I read the better it got.  I even got a little teary at places (and I loved her employment…I really need to get a job like that just so I can tell people what I do for a living).

Overall, I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next one and seeing what happens….especially since it ended just as it was getting interesting.

I give this book 4 out of 5 clouds and a chili pepper rating of 3 (mild, but not for kids).

Book Review of Eyes of Love author guest post

Book Review of Eyes of Love author guest post

Welcome to Books, Books, and More Books.  I am pleased to share this book with you.  Thank you for visiting and please come again.

FACTS I WISH I HAD KNOWN ABOUT BEING AN AUTHOR…

1. I didn’t know book publishing was all about sales! Not my story, not my knowledge, not my credentials… not my anything. Having a super marketing strategy seems to outweigh any story line you could ever dream up.

Publishers are all about sales and, naturally, so are self-publishers.

The reality of the situation dictates, that in order to be successful, authors themselves need to work extremely hard at promoting their books. At least half of your day will be about promotion: it may sound staggering but it’s realistic.

2. I thought one day in the not too distant future, I would make enough money to cut down the working hours of my nursing job. I thought I would be at least breaking even with costs.

3. I didn’t know how little I knew about writing and would need to read, read and read more books about writing.

4. As a newbie the cover of my book was often the result of input from the graphic artist to even the platform who was publishing my book … anyone but me.

5. That professional editing would be necessary and worth every dime. It is very difficult to edit your own work… after publishing it is such a shock to find there are spelling errors that were missed.

6. That I needed to learn the formatting language … don’t set tabs, do this, do that. The alternative: hire an expert.

7. Patience, patience and patience. Why does it take so long? The book has been edited. The final cover has been decided on… everyone will love it! What … 3 weeks before the first review of the book’s copy is ready! Don’t they have a team working for them? Don’t they have software that converts in minutes like all the Internet Marketer’s have been telling me about?

8. You need to grow a thick skin! After all, every one is entitled to an opinion and not everyone will like your book. You have to accept you really can’t please everyone all the time, even some of the time. You have to accept everyone’s view is based on their life’s experiences. You have to really grow and learn from what the reviewers tell you … sometimes it will be that you repeated yourself 8 times, that your story is a waste of time, that they will never read anything else you write! Yes, you really do need to grow a thick skin because you do benefit from feedback! And reviews do help sell your books, good reviews and bad ones. The best gift a reader can give an author is a brief review.

9. That I couldn’t avoid Facebook and Twitter any longer. Readers want to interact with authors personally or on social sites… and you want to know your readers. Readers are passionate supporters of their favorite authors’ careers and will not hesitate to encourage you: they become ambassadors for your work.

Eyes of Love Virtual Book Tour

About Angelina Rose:

Angelina Rose has wanted to write ever since she could hold a pencil. The first daughter of immigrant parents, Angelina had her head buried in books, lost in a world of heroes, heroines and exotic places.

It was a shocking experience that jump-started Angelina's author career.

"I awoke in the ICU... I had been unconscious for several days," Angelina says.

In 2010, Angelina had a long stint in hospital following her involvement in a motor vehicle accident: the longest time off work (as a Registered Nurse), she'd ever had in her life!

It was then she took up pen and paper and started to write again, just as she had done when she was a child. She wrote four short fiction stories for young adults, entered them in several competitions, and managed to win three first prizes!

After happily dipping her toes into writing those short fiction stories for young adults, Angelina has now authored four books in a new "Mill Creek Crossing Romance" series... contemporary romance intended for adults.

The "Starting Over Series" is another contemporary romance series she wrote about a subject she knows well... nurses and their love life. At a recent reunion of her graduating class, she could not help but notice how the same girls would group together and laugh, chat, and even shed some tears over their lives since graduating. Many of the girls had divorced... so Angelina thought "what if a group of the nurses came up with a plan to meet in two years and have a new love story to share?" Then the first story in the series was born.

There is always a story running around in her head. A man with thick dark hair, gray-blue eyes, with an engaging smile and a quick wit... or a girl crying over a broken relationship. She finds herself talking to these characters during her day: when she's doing dishes, or bathing babies at the hospital. These characters crop up on days at the beach or on walks through the neighborhood. This is how the stories start to grow.
Angelina's mother was an author, so Angelina grew up with a love of words and stories. If she wasn't writing a short story about something that took her fancy, her head was buried in books... reading, reading, reading, as her brother constantly told her...

When she's not spending time with her goodlooking man, or quality time with her laptop, she's working at the hospital, hanging out with her family and friends, or walking her two dogs around the neighborhood. Angelina spends as much time as she can traveling, then coming home and including some of those adventures in her stories.

Angelina really loves to hear from her readers and she invites you to connect with her on Facebook as she interacts daily with her readers there!

Romantic, amusing, and deeply moving, Book 4 in the Mill Creek Crossing Romance Series, is a tale that will stay with you.

The Eyes of Love is a novella… you will be able to enjoy it in just one day!

"Well, if it isn't the handsome Colin Dean," she said fanning herself and smiling. Gracie was older than he was, but he remembered her younger sister, Eva, quite well. They'd all hung out together at parties when they were younger, and Gracie had been a fixture at Stella's for years even though she recently came into some inheritance money.
"Hey, sweetie," he said kissing her on the cheek. Women loved Colin because he made them feel good, and he was always kind. Stephanie hadn't been able to take that away from him.
"I'll never wash this cheek again," she said touching her face and smiling. "How are you, honey?" she asked with a frown.
"Hanging in there."
"I hate to see you so sad, Colin," she said sliding into the booth across from him.
"I'll be fine, Gracie."
"I know you will, but if you ever need to talk..."
"Thank you, but I don't. Not yet anyway. The divorce was finalized last week."
"I'm so sorry about Stephanie, but she was never good enough for you."
"Gracie..." he said shaking his finger at her.
"It's true. Ask anybody. That woman is trouble with a capital T. Always has been," Gracie said, refusing to mince her words. She'd despised Stephanie since she first met her.
"Glad you're always on my side, sweetie," he said rubbing her hand and laughing. "I sure wouldn't want you on my bad side!"
"Good thinking. Oh, crud, I've got a customer," she said as she slid out of the booth and headed back up to the counter.
"Dean!" he heard a voice call from behind him. It was one of his baseball buddies, Cal Erwin. "How are ya, man?"
"Good. Where've you been lately?" Colin asked as Cal dropped down into the seat.
"Well, I went out to California to visit my brother for a few months. Played in a band out there and gathered up lots of ladies along the way," he said grinning.
"Glad you had a good time."
"Where's Steph?" Cal asked.
"I have no idea. We're not married anymore," Colin said as he looked at his menu.
Cal's mouth dropped open. "What?"
"We divorced, Cal. She screwed Jazz and I walked in on them." Cal's mouth dropped open yet again.
"Dude..."
"You know, we're not sixteen anymore. You should stop saying dude," Colin said with a chuckle.
"I'm sorry, man. I had no idea."
"No biggie," he lied.
"I can't believe Jazz..."
"Look, can we not talk about it? It's kind of old news, and I'm really done discussing it," Colin said pointedly.
"Sorry. So, are you skipping the reunion then?"
"Of course not. Why would I?

Review:

Told from an outside point of view (omniscient) we are able to see into the minds of the characters, which is good because we might side with Sally otherwise and be wary of Colin.  After suffering a horrible divorce because of finding his friend and wife sleeping together, Colin falls head over heels for Sally.

I found that Colin was a pretty predictable man  who frequently hid his feelings from others and pretended things didn't bother him as much as they did (see the excerpt for an example).

This was a pretty good book.  I give it a 4 out of 5 clouds.
